A Melbourne-esque sanctuary for Brisbane cafe lovers.

Early morning bike rides and beautiful breakfast. Thursday’s is one of my few days off from uni and work… so I always feel the need to fit in as much as possible so I don’t waste the day! Sana and I have been so busy lately with Ramadan just finishing for Sana, and myself being bombarded with this new semester at uni.

Sana and I decided we would go hire the City Cycle bikes and make our way to Lady Lamington,a very impressive restaurant/wine bar/ cafe. I have previously been to Lady Lamington a few times and can’t seem to get enough, though Sana has never been. Sana and I share a love for beautiful cafe interiors, great healthy menus and of course a good coffee – I had to show her this place!

After repeatedly trying to wake Sana up at 6am by phone calls from my bedroom, then finally going into her room to physically wake her, we got out of the house by 645am (I did intend on an earlier start.. but it took me longer to wake Sana up then I thought ha-ha!).

As we rode through the botanical gardens to lady lamington we came to a massive hill where we both thought we wouldn’t make it, the only thing that kept me going was thinking how close we were to a delicious breakfast and great coffee. Finally we got to our destination – docked our bikes and couldn’t get in the door any faster!

Lady Lamington has this amazing Melbourne-esque Cafe; the interior boasts a feminine girly decor where everything seems to be right. As we walked in staff greeted us with a smile and good morning. There was nowhere else I’d rather be right now.  Sana and I sat down inside with the sun shining on us, staff bring us menu’s and water – something we desperately needed after our bike ride.

Looking through the menu I “umm-ed” and “arrr-ed” at what to order. Of course my eyes went straight to the “HEALTHY OPTION” heading in the menu. Did I want the avocado like last time? Or maybe eggs? I decided to go for something difference. I am not a big fan of muesli… But I thought I would give it a go and order Toasted house muesli with seasonal fruit, honey and Barambah organic yoghurt, Sana decided on the Avocado on sourdough with 2 eggs. Now there is something about the eggs they make here. I had warned Sana she HAD to try them. They are slowly cooked in a water bath for about 60minutes at a low heat- they are to die for! I don’t think I have enjoyed a coffee as much as I do here, is it the scenery and the sense of serenity as I enjoy it? Or the fact that they use Black Sheep coffee? I’m not sure, all I know is- I found a new love.

Breakfast came out- the attention to detail is phenomenal , my muesli  was served in a cute mason jar with a checker red lid, milk in an old school glass milk bottle and my yoghurt and fruit in a cute little bowl- not to mention the antique teaspoon that accompanied by coffee. Sana’s avocado and eggs came out – by this time we were ready to devour our food.

My muesli was so good Sana tried to steal some before I could even get to it!

As I said before, I am not a muesli person…  but that has now changed. Sana loved her choice and was as amazing with the eggs as I was the first time I tried them.

After sitting around chatting for about an hour or so we decided we should make our way back and get our errands for the day done. We didn’t want to leave; the serenity and beautiful food had us in a place where we felt so relaxed.  We would definitely recommend this spectacular spot to anyone who has a love for cafes and unique interior.

Lady Lamington has a rooftop area. Enjoy breakfast and soak up some rays at the same time! Or enjoy a few drinks on a Friday night with the girls (or guys) :)

We highly recommend you get some friends together and check out Lady Lamington for breakfast this weekend! Hope you have a lovely end to your week. Xo s&j xo
