Christmas Cacao Truffles

I am so so exciting to be sharing this AHHH-MAAAZING recipe with you all! I am a sucker for anything sweet, though throughout my journey to Eat Healthy, Live Happy & Get Fit I have come across some great dessert recipes. But this one by far is my favourite, reason being its quick, simple, and I get to use my Thermomix! My Christmas Cacao Truffles are decadent, the flavour is rich and deep so one satisfies any cravings I have. The recipe consists of 3 main nutrient rich ingredients, Medjool Dates, Almonds and of course Cacao .

Medjool Dates– The primary ingredient in most of my raw desserts are Medjool dates. I choose Medjool dates because they are extremely sweet, large and plump. Dates are used as a sugar or sweetener substitute in many healthy recipes, they tend to have a deep caramel flavour. Nutritionally  they are packed with an extensive list of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that are required for normal growth and development. The soft easily digestible flesh combined with simple sugars fructose and dextrose helps replenish energy within the body. Medjool dates are composed of health benefiting flavonoid antioxidants which have the ability to protect cells and other structures in the body.

Cacao – I did a post on Cacao a while back but to refresh your memory cacao is one of the best sources of magnesium found in nature. It also contains high amounts of calcium, zinc, iron, copper, and potassium. Cacao has a chemical which improves physical and mental well-being, including alkaloids, proteins, lysine and much more.

Almonds- Almonds are high in mono unsaturated fats, the same type of health-promoting fats as are found in olive oil, which have been associated with reduced risk of heart disease. Almonds improve the movement of food through the colon, thereby preventing colon cancer. The presence of manganese, copper and Riboflavin  in almonds helps in energy production.

Christmas Cacao Truffle Recipe:

What you will need..

  • 300 g almonds
  • 30 g cacao powder
  • ½  teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1  teaspoon vanilla bean
  • 16 fresh-pitted medjool dates

(decorate with goji berries, nuts, cacao, coconut)

What to do…

  • In processor combine almonds, cinnamon, and cacao. Process until almonds are finely ground.
  • Add dates and vanilla and process until the mixture starts to hold together and form a ball.
  • Remove mixture from food processor and form small balls in your palm. (should make about 24 balls)
  • Sprinkle with your choice of decorations.
  • Place in baby paper cups.

It’s that simple! I promise! Now I have to go make 100 of them for an order! haha get rolling!
