Going NUTS for Nut Butters!

Nut butters are going CRAZY at the moment. Anywhere from the traditional peanut butter to almond/macadamia etc. These are probably the simplest condiment to make, I made Jam for you the other day, well this is even easier. While remaining simple the nut butters are delicious and also good for you.  Nut butters contain a range of minerals, vitamins and good-quality protein. Wholesome nut butters contain fiber and essential fatty-acids, which is a good choice for anyone looking to replace margarine or butter with a nut butter that are more nutritious.

Help your children be healthy and grow by replacing commercial nut spreads with all natural nut butters. This will give them a nutritious start to the day and provide them with essential dietary elements.

Processing nuts into butters, can be used to flavour, thicken, and replace dairy cream in traditional recipes.

Nut butters are not limited. You can use pretty much any form of nut almonds, pecans, cashews, walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, peanuts, and macadamias, both sweet and savory.

It is very simple to create your own homemade nut butters:

Making nut butters: Just grind nuts in a food processor until they form a paste. Some nut butters will be creamy; others, a bit grainy. The higher the fat, the smoother the butter will be.

You can even make nut cream:

Making nut creams: Whisk about 1 cup water into 1/4 cup nut butter to create a nut cream, a good substitute for heavy cream in pasta sauces and desserts. Start with neutral-­flavored cashew or almond butter, then branch out to more flavourful nuts.
